Jean Carruthers Wetta was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1944 and lives and works in Islands Heights, New Jersey. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Webster College, St. Louis, Missouri and Master of Fine Arts from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums nationally and internationally and is part of many permanent collections including museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, the Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont, the Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi, and the Contemporary Art Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii. Her work has been represented by the gallery since 2015 and was previously represented by McMurtrey Gallery in Houston for nearly 30 years.
