Born in Caspar, Wyoming, April 24, 1964 Michael Kennaugh received a B.F.A. from Lamar University in 1986 and an M.F.A. in painting from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas in 1990. During the summer of 1990, he attended The American College of Switzerland, Leysin, CH. From 1996-98 he was represented by Sally Sprout Gallery, Houston, Texas where given two solo shows during that time. He was awarded an artist residency in 1996 at the William Flanagan Memorial Creative Persons Cener, Montauk, Long Island. In 1998 his work was included in Edward Albee Curates: Five Artists at the Art League in Houston, Texas. In 1999 his work was included in New York Collects at the Albright Knox Gallery, Buffalo, New York, and that same year was exhibited in Six at the Kouros Gallery, New York; and Four Painters at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Center, Hong Kong, China. In 2000 he was given a solo show Monuments and Myths at the Lawndale Art Center, Houston, Texas. That same year his work was included in a large-scale exhibition Texas, Across State Linesat the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He has lectured at Baylor University, Waco, Texas; the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, Texas; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; and Lawndale Art Center, Houston, Texas. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; Duke Energy, Houston, Texas; American General, Houston, Texas; and in many private collections across the country. Since 2002, he has been represented by Moody Gallery, Houston, Texas and will have his second solo show Nexusin June 2004.
